Device Setup

Below is related information and resources for email setup on wireless devices.

If you are unable to configure a device or if it is not listed below, please look through other phones for software with similar screens to your phone, and if it is not found, contact your device provider or manufacturer for additional support.

Android

Required to Start:

  • Your device powered on
  • Your device connected to internet or Wi-Fi

To edit/update email account encryption:

  1. Open Gmail and select Options (hamburger menu) at the top left.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Select your Midco email account.
  4. Select Incoming Setting and choose Security in the pulldown.
  5. Change to SSL/TLS. It will update automatically.
  6. Select Outgoing Settings.
  7. Choose Security in the pulldown.
  8. Change to SSL/TLS. It will update automatically.

To set up your email on your Android device:

  1. From the Home screen, choose the Apps icon (located at bottom edge of screen).
  2. Tap Email, and enter your full email address and password.
  3. Select Next and then POP3. Enter the following:
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: email address password
    • Server: pop.midco.net
    • Port: 995
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
    • Delete Email From Server: when I delete from Inbox
    • Authentication Type (if presented): Auto
  4. Tap Next, and enter the following:
    • SMTP server: smtp.midco.net
    • Port: 465
    • Security Type: STARTTLS
    • Require Signin: checked
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: email address password
  5. Tap Next. Under Inbox Checking Frequency, select options for preferences on new email.
  6. Tap Next. Enter an account name and outgoing name displayed on emails sent.
  7. Tap Finish.

To return to the home screen, tap the Home icon. To access your Midco mail, tap your mail app.

iPhone and iPad

Some email clients are able to auto detect the correct email server settings to make it easier for you to set up your email on your device. If the auto setup steps don’t work for your device, follow the manual setup steps below.

Required to Start:

  • Your device powered on
  • Your device connected to internet or Wi-Fi


Edit/update email account encryption.

For your incoming mail server:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Mail.
  3. Select Accounts and then choose the Midco account you want to modify.
  4. Select Advanced.
  5. Toggle on Use SSL/TLS. It will update automatically.

For your outgoing mail server: 

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Mail.
  3. Select Accounts and then choose the Midco account you want to modify.
  4. Under smtp, select Outgoing Server Info.
  5. Under primary server, select smtp.midco.net.
  6. Toggle on Use SSL/TLS. It will update automatically.


Auto Setup

To use auto setup to add your Midco email on your iOS device:

  1. Go to ios.midco.net.
  2. On the setup page, enter your full email address, your full name as you want it to appear on outgoing emails, and your email password.
  3. Tap Request Configuration.
  4. Tap Allow when prompted about downloading a configuration.
  5. From the home screen, tap Settings, then tap Profile Downloaded. The Midco.net profile should open, tap Install.
    • Alternatively, in Settings you can select General, then VPN & Device Management. Tap the Midco.net profile and Install.
  6. On the Profile Installed screen, tap Done.

To return to the home screen, press the Home button if your iPhone has one, or swipe up for newer phones. To access your Midco email, tap your mail app.

Manual Setup

If auto setup doesn’t work, manually set up your Midco email on your iOS device using these steps:

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Mail.
  3. Under Accounts, choose Add Account, and then Other.
  4. Tap Add Mail Account.
  5. On the New Account screen, enter your name as you want it to appear on outgoing emails, your full email address, and your email password. You can also enter a description for your email, though this is optional.
  6. Tap Next, and then select POP.
  7. For incoming server settings, enter the following:
    • Host name: pop.midco.net
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: email address password
  8. For outgoing server settings, enter the following:
    • Host Name: smtp.midco.net
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: email address password
  9. Tap Save.
  10. From the Accounts screen, tap the email account you added, and then select Advanced.
  11. On the Advanced screen, confirm or enter the following:
    • Under Deleted Messages:
      • Remove: After one week
    • Delete from Server:
      • When Removed From Inbox

To return to the home screen, press the Home button if your iPhone has one, or swipe up for newer phones. To access your Midco email, tap your mail app.

Mac Mail

Required to Start:

  • Your computer or laptop powered on
  • Your computer or laptop connected to internet or Wi-Fi

To edit/update email account encryption:

  1. Open Mail.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click Accounts and select the Midco account you want to modify.
  4. Choose Server Settings.
  5. Select Use TLS/SSL for both incoming and outgoing mail servers.
    • Incoming Mail Server port will be 995 if using POP or 993 if using IMAP.
    • Outgoing Mail Server port will be 587 (465 if that gives error).
  6. Click Save.

 

To set up your email in your Mac Mail application:

  1. Open the Mail app.
  2. On the Welcome to Mail screen, enter your full name, email address and email password. Click Continue.
  3. Enter these incoming server settings:
    • Account type: POP
    • Description: (optional) what you want to name your account
    • Incoming mail server: pop.midco.net
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: email password
  4. Select Continue.
  5. Enter these outgoing server settings:
    • Description: (optional) what you want to name your account
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.midco.net
    • Use only this server: checked
    • Use authentication: checked
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: should auto-populate with the password
  6. Click Continue.
  7. On the Account Summary screen, make sure to check Take Account Online. Click Create.

Your email is now set up on your computer. Minimize or close out of the application to go to your desktop. Access your email by opening the Mac Mail app.

Mozilla Thunderbird

Mozilla Thunderbird may be able to auto detect the correct email server settings – making it easier for you to set up your email on your device. If the auto setup steps don’t work for your device, follow the manual setup steps below.

Required to Start:

  • Your computer or laptop powered on
  • Your computer or laptop connected to internet or Wi-Fi

To set up your email in Mozilla Thunderbird:

  1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird. In the menu bar, select Tools and then Account Settings.
  2. Click Set up an account, and then Email.
  3. On the Mail Account Setup window, enter your name as you want it to appear on outgoing emails, your email address, and your email password. Make sure Remember password is checked.
  4. Select Continue.
    • Thunderbird will attempt to auto configure your email server settings. If it’s successful, it will show information for your server settings in the current window. Make sure POP3 is selected, and select Create Account.
    • If auto set up fails, make sure POP3 is selected, and choose Manual Setup.
  5. On the Mail Account Setup window, enter the following:
    • Incoming: POP3
    • Incoming server hostname: pop.midco.net
    • Incoming port: 995
    • Incoming SSL: SSL/TLS
    • Incoming authentication: normal password
    • Outgoing: SMTP
    • Outgoing server hostname: smtp.midco.net
    • Outgoing port: 587
    • Outgoing SSL: STARTTLS
    • Outgoing authentication: normal password
    • Username: full email address
  6. Select Done.

Your email is now set up. To access your email, click the inbox option on the left menu. To go back to your desktop, minimize or close the application.

Outlook

Required to Start:

  • Your computer or laptop powered on
  • Your computer or laptop connected to internet or Wi-Fi

To edit/update email account encryption:

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Click File.
  3. Select the Account Settings drop down.
  4. Choose Server Settings.
  5. Click the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS).
    • Incoming Mail Server port will be 995 if using POP or 993 if using IMAP.
    • Outgoing Mail Server port will be 587 (465 if that gives error)
  6.  Click Next.

To set up your email in Outlook:

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Select the File tab and then Account Settings.
  3. On the Email tab, choose New.
  4. On the Auto Account Setup window, select Manual setup or additional server types, and then click Next.
  5. Select POP or IMAP, and then select Next.
  6. Enter your full name as you want it to appear on outgoing emails and your email address.
  7. Under Server Information, enter the following:
    • Account type: POP3
    • Incoming mail server: pop.midco.net
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.midco.net
    • User name: full email address
    • Password: email address password
    • Remember password: checked
    • Require logon using secure password authentication (SPA): leave unchecked
  8. Select Test Account Settings to check your settings and ensure everything is set up correctly, and then click Next.
  9. Click Finish and then Close.

Your email is now set up on your computer. Minimize or close out of the application to go to your desktop. Access your email by opening the Outlook app.

Windows 10

Required to Start:

  • Your computer or laptop powered on
  • Your computer or laptop connected to internet or Wi-Fi

To set up your email in Windows 10:

  1. Select the Windows Start button in lower left corner of screen, and choose Mail.
  2. If this is the first time you’ve opened the Mail app, skip to step 3. If you’ve used the Mail app before, select the Settings gear icon, and then Manage Accounts.
  3. Select Add account.
  4. On the Choose an account screen, select Advanced Setup, and then Internet email.
  5. Enter the following:
    • Account name: what you want to name your account
    • Your name: name that should appear on outgoing emails
    • Incoming mail server: pop.midco.net
    • Account type: POP3
    • User name: full email address
    • Password: email address password
    • Outgoing (SMTP) email server: smtp.midco.net
    • Outgoing server requires authentication: checked
    • Use the same user name and password for sending email: checked
    • Require SSL for incoming mail: checked
    • Require SSL for outgoing email: checked
  6. Select Sign In, and then Done.

Your email is now set up on your computer. Minimize or close out of the application to go to your desktop. You can access your email at any time by opening the Mail app.
